Sylvia Karp, Director

The Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) is a unit of the Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) and offers adult education classes for free or at a very low-cost. MAEP is one of the oldest and largest adult education programs in the state.

The classes are convenient, accessible, and have flexible schedules to meet the family and work needs of adults. The courses range from basic skills in math, reading and writing, ESL Citizenship, 50+ Program to Career Technical (Vocational) certificate programs.

The Metropolitan Education District also offers a variety of classes for adult students, through the Central County Occupational Center (CCOC). The CCOC evening classes are Career Technical (vocational) classes primarily for adults; whereas, CCOC day classes are targeted for high school students.

MAEP is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). All teachers have California State Teaching credentials and all course curriculums meet the California State guidelines and is reviewed and updated regularly.
