Evaluation of the Instructional Program

 

Program Quality Assessment

 

I.          Purpose

 

            To maintain an annual program quality review in accordance with Board Policy 6190 for all career technical pre-employment classes which will serve as the basis for assessing the following:

 

            A.        The quality and effectiveness of each career technical course (see program quality review elements).

 

            B.        Course needs with corresponding improvements and revisions.

 

II.          Program Review Elements

 

            The administration shall establish acceptable criteria for each course.  Each class section will be reviewed by utilizing statistical data            collected for the following program quality criteria indicators:

 

            1.         Student enrollment data

            2.         Placement data

            3.         Job market information

            4.         Advisory committee

            5.         Use of community resources

            6.         Academic preparation

            7.         Organization and content of the instructional program

            8.         All aspects of an industry

            9.         Appropriate instructional materials and equipment

            10.       Preparing students for productive careers and positive attitudes toward lifelong learning

            11.       Development of student leadership skills

            12.       Program instructor preparation

 

III.         Accountability Measurements

 

The California Department of Education (CDE) requires that offer Career Technical Educations classes to submit two reports every school year.

 

1.         CDE 101 E1-is a report on Career Technical Education enrollment and program completers, due the fall semester for the preceding        school year.

 

            A.        Report requirements-Separate report for Adult and High School students

·                    Number of students enrolled, grouped by CBEDS code (career cluster)

·                    Number of 12th grade and adult students who completed the program

·                    Number of 12th grade students who completed the program AND received a diploma

·                    Gender

·                    Race/Ethnicity

·                    Special Populations such as special education. limited English proficiency, and economically disadvantaged

            B.        Definition of “completer”

·                    High school student:  a “completer” is a student who completes 2 semesters of a program and earns a passing   grade.

·                    Adult student: a “completer” is a student who completes 2 semesters of a program and earns a passing grade OR         leaves a class prior to the end of a program to accept employment in a program related job.

 

2.         CDE 101 E2-is a report on Career Technical Education placement of program completers reported in CDE 101 E1.  This report is due     the spring semester for the preceding school year.

 

            A.        Report requirements-Follow-up survey must be conducted on all program completers 6 months after they complete the program

·                    Number of students in the military

·                    Number of students in further education or training

·                    Number of students working in a job related to the program they completed

·                    Number of students working in a job NOT related to the program they completed

·                    Gender

·                    Race/Ethnicity

·                    Special Populations such as such as special education, limited English proficiency, and economically   disadvantaged
