Students

Promotion

The Governing Board expects students to progress through the schools system’s program levels within one school year. To accomplish this, instruction should accommodate the variety of ways that students learn and include strategies for addressing academic deficiencies when needed.

Students shall progress through the program levels by demonstrating growth in learning and meeting grade-level standards of expected student achievement.  To continue each school year in the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program, each ABE student must show progression from one grade level or learning level to another as set by the curriculum standards and measured by state mandated testing. Alternative learning options will be explained to any student unable to demonstrate growth in Adult Basic Skills.

Progress toward high school graduation shall be based on students' ability to pass the courses necessary to earn the required number of credits and on their ability to pass the state high school exit examination.  Reasonable accommodation will be made for students with special needs based on available resources.
