CCOC – Central County Occupational Program – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

John Fox, Director

What is CCOC and how does the program work?

CCOC is a career development and technical job training facility where students come to learn a career that leads them to college or directly into the job market.

Students choose a career-field that he/she wants to learn (see Career Clusters); and attend regular high school for half of the school day and CCOC for half of the day. Two daily sessions are offered: three hours from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Free-of-charge busing to and from the high school is available. Students may also drive to CCOC or be transported by others.

Interested students need to make arrangements to take classes at CCOC through their high school guidance counselor.

In most CCOC classes college credits can be earned by students who earn grades of “A” or “B”. On entering college students will have a head start on their college requirements.

Who is eligible to attend CCOC?

If the high school student resides within one of the six school districts below, and is a junior or senior (or age 16), he/she is eligible to apply to CCOC through their high school counselor. There is no cost for high school students to attend CCOC – it is a public school, and part of the California State Department of Education.

Adult students may enroll in daytime CCOC classes if they reside within one of the six districts below, on a space-available basis. Adults are charged a minimal fee for labs and materials.

CCOC also has an evening tuition program for adult students and for high school students who are low in credits (tuition-free). High school students are required to obtain signed permission from their counselor.

The six districts in Santa Clara County include: Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District.

For additional information about enrollment, or information on courses available, contact a counselor at your regular high school. Adults may call the phone numbers at the top of the page for additional information about courses and enrollment.
