MetroED's CCOC to Host 2nd Annual Broc Glover Breathe Easy Ride (Bay Area) Fundraiser to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis

The 2nd Annual Broc Glover Breathe Easy Ride (Bay Area) Fundraiser to benefit Cystic Fibrosis will be held at MetroED's Central County Occupational Center (CCOC), at 760 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose, on September 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All money raised at the Breathe Easy Charity motorcycle ride benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Professional motorcycle riders Broc Glover, whose seven-year-old son has Cystic Fibrosis, and 2007 Daytona 200 winner, Steve Rapp will ride in this year's event.

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects more than 30,000 people in the United States and 70,000 people worldwide. The disease causes the body to produce athick mucus that clogs the lungs and can lead to life threatening lung infections. It also obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes, preventing the body from breaking down and absorbing food.

The ride itself is 1 hour and 15 minutes with a break in the middle for refreshments. The event features a motorcycle ride, event celebrities, music, lunch provided by BJ's restaurant, and a silent auction. This year's ride is made possible due to its many event sponsors including San Jose Yamaha and Cycle Gear. Sign in starts at 9:30 a.m. and the first kickstands go up at approximately 10:15 a.m. The course will take riders through San Jose, Saratoga, and Los Gatos before returning to CCOC.

Participants need to pre-register for the event at http://www.BER-BayArea.com. Cost is $25 and it goes toward whatever donation goal a rider sets for themselves. In order to receive a goody-bag, a rider needs to raise at least $100. There are four levels of goody bags: $100, $250, $500, and $1,000, depending on the dollar amount of donations received.

"Thank you in advance to everyone who plans to participate in this ride. Whether you know somebody who has Cystic Fibrosis or simply want to help defeat a disease that has taken so many lives, your financial support is a crucial aspect in helping to finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis," Barker said. The Broc Glover Breathe Easy Ride has been held in Southern California since 2008 and last year, Glover held the first satellite Breathe Easy Ride Bay Area. The ride was very successful and raised thousands of dollars for Cystic Fibrosis.

To ensure a great experience for everyone, space is limited to 120 motorcycle riders and family of participating riders are encouraged to attend the event. Lunch is $5 for all non-riders attending the event. Register today at http://www.BER-BayArea.com
