CCOC to Host Auto Parts Swap Meet Fundraiser for SkillsUSA

Central County Occupational Center will host an Auto Parts Swap Meet Fundraiser benefiting CCOC's SkillsUSA Club on October 12 from 6 am to 2 pm, at 760 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose.

Admission is free and a $25 tax deductible donation/fee for those who wish to purchase a spot to sell parts at the swap meet. The swap meet will feature a variety of auto parts such as car parts, race car extras, truck parts, and motorcycle parts. All proceeds will go directly to support students competing in the upcoming SkillsUSA competitions. Call Instructor Mike Cortese at (408) 723-4209 or email mcortese@metroed.net for more information.

SkillsUSA is a national organization which serves high school and college students enrolled in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations. SkillsUSA provides education experiences for students in leadership and teamwork and helps build self-confidence, professional work attitudes and communication skills.

Many of CCOC's SkillsUSA club members compete in annual SkillsUSA championships at the Regional, State, and National level. Earlier this year, 38 CCOC students competed in the Regional competition. Nine students received Gold medals at the State competition and five of those students competed in the SkillsUSA National competition in June.
