Central County Occupational Center to Hold 7th Annual Custom & Classic Car Show Benefit

Central County Occupational Center will host its Seventh Annual Custom and Classic Car Show benefiting CCOC’s SkillsUSA Club on May 14 from 5-8:30 pm, at 760 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose.

A $15 tax deductible donation/fee is all it takes to exhibit a custom, classic or vintage car, truck, motorcycle or bicycle in the CCOC auto show. All proceeds will go directly to support students competing in SkillsUSA regional, state and national competitions. This year, five CCOC students will attend the SkillsUSA National Competition in Kansas City in June. Recently 34 students competed in the SkillsUSA state competition, taking home more than $70,000 in scholarships.

Call Instructor Robert McTaggart at (408) 723-6563 or email mtaggart@metroed.net to register as an exhibitor. Exhibitors will also receive one free meal. In 2009, more than 1,000 spectators came to see 256 entries in the annual event. Spaghetti, hotdogs, and soft drinks will be available for purchase by spectators. Spectators’ admission to the car show is free. No pets please.

SkillsUSA is a national organization which serves high school and college students enrolled in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations. SkillsUSA provides education experiences for students in leadership and teamwork and helps build self-confidence, professional work attitudes and communication skills. Many of CCOC’s SkillsUSA club members compete in annual SkillsUSA championships at the Regional, State, and National level.
