Two CCOC Students win First Place for Special Effects at KCSM Spotlight High School Film Festival
Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) Video Production students Brian Dang and Vincent Kim won first place in the Special Effects Category at the KCSM 4th Annual Spotlight High School Film Festival in San Mateo on May 2 for their short film, Second Chance.
Second Chance is a film about time travel in which Dang’s character shoots someone and repeatedly travels back in time in an effort to stop the shooting. Each time, the character arrives a fraction of a second off. The five minute film showcases Dang’s and Kim’s special effects skills. The duo’s five minute film can be viewed on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njiNyQtjzDQ
They each received a $250 scholarship to the College of San Mateo, Adobe Premier Video Editing Software, sound library audio disks, an iPod Nano, and access to their film will be shown, at various times, on KCSM throughout the summer. Their entry was judged by industry professionals, film-makers and College of San Mateo faculty members. The contest was open to all Bay Area high school students.
