Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) will host its 4th annual Law Enforcement Completer Ceremony on June 1, at
6:00 p.m. at 760 Hillsdale Ave, San Jose. The ceremony recognizes more than 50 students that have completed CCOC's Law
Enforcement program. Santa Clara County Undersheriff John Hirokawa will serve as the keynote speaker.
"CCOC's Law Enforcement students worked very hard to complete CCOC's Law Enforcement program," CCOC's Law Enforcement Instructor, Rico Sciaky, said.
"It's a great honor to have the Undersheriff speak to these students and their families and
offer them encouragement regarding their choice to enter into the criminal justice field."
CCOC-a unit of MetroED, has one of the most advanced Law Enforcement Regional Occupational Programs in the
state and uses a Firearms Training System similar to what law enforcement agencies use in police academies, Sciaky said.
CCOC's Law Enforcement and Fire Science/First Responder Program is open to high school juniors and seniors
from six high school districts: Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District, Campbell Union High School District,
ast Side Union High School District, San Jose Unified, Milpitas Unified, and the Santa Clara Unified District.
Students learn the nuts and bolts of law enforcement through similar methods used at police academies with a variety
of hands-on experiences.
MetroED is the largest career-oriented educational organization in
Santa Clara County, comprised of high school and adult occupational,
academic and community programs.
MetroED annually provides 30,000 diverse students with the skills
to help them be productive, income-earning and tax-paying contributors to
