MAEP to Consolidate Sites Beginning June 9
The Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) will consolidate its programs to the 760 Hillsdale campus beginning June 9. Both the San Jose and Erikson Adult Education Centers will be closed due to budget cuts. The consolidation will allow MAEP to provide a leaner and more efficient program while continuing to offer outstanding classes and services to students and the community.
MAEP offers a wide variety of classes to adults in the San Jose Unified School District (SJUSD) service area that include: English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship; Adult Basic Education; Adult High School Diploma program; Independent Studies; GED preparation; and Career Technical Education (CTE) classes in Medical Assisting, Office Skills, and Accounting. In addition, Capitol High School, a unique alternative high school, will remain at the Hillsdale campus but will be located in the CCOC section of the campus.
MAEP, a unit of MetroED, provides educational opportunities to adults who live in the SJUSD service area and to those who participate in the CalWORKs and Job Corps programs. MetroED's GED testing center and the teaching and supervisory credentialing programs, however, are open to adults throughout Santa Clara County. For more information regarding MAEP classes, call 408-723-6450 or visit www.MetroED.net.
