Metropolitan Adult Education Program's MC Village to Host Open House
The community is invited to attend Metropolitan Adult Education Program's (MAEP) Open House on September 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 760 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose. The Open House will showcase MAEP's newest facility-the MC Village-and feature site tours led by student hosts, along with information about classes.
"MC Village will be a dynamic, multicultural learning community for both adults and high school students," MAEP Director, Sylvia Karp, said. "The facility is a beautiful design and everyone is excited to be in this wonderful new learning environment."
The new MC Village is large, bright, and airy and replaces the aging MC adult education center which was also located on the same campus.
MAEP's MC Village offers a wide variety of classes in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Classes there include: English as a Second Language (ESL), 50+, GED Testing, Career Technical Education (CTE), and credentialing classes. MC Village is also home to Capitol High School, which is a unique alternative school serving high school students in MetroED's six participating Joint Powers Authority (JPA) districts.
MAEP-a unit of MetroED-is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is one of the largest and oldest adult education programs in the state. As a three time winner of Programs of Excellence from the California Department of Education, MAEP's high-quality programs are known throughout the state.
MAEP's 12 locations are strategically located throughout San Jose to provide services to students as close as possible to where they work and live. A combined total of about 10,000 adults are served annually in a variety of day and evening classes, including English as a Second Language (ESL); Adult Basic Education; Adults with Disabilities; Citizenship; Ed2Go online classes; GED preparation and testing; Independent Study; Capitol High; Credit Recovery classes for high school students; Adult High School Diploma Classes along with a number of Community Interest Programs (CIP) and classes for 50+ (Older Adult) students.
To attend the MC Open House, RSVP to MAEP Assistant Principal, Suzi Glass at sglass@metroed.net or 408-723-4253. To view MAEP's complete schedule of classes, visit www.MetroED.net
