Lynn Orong Named Chief Business Officer of MetroED

The MetroED Governing Board named Lynn Orong MetroED's Chief Business Officer (CBO) at their meeting January 18. Orong has 14 years of experience in education and most recently served as the Associate Superintendent of Business Services/CBO of the San Bruno Park School District.

"We are excited to have Lynn join our staff. She is an experienced CBO with a Master's and CBO certification," Superintendent Paul Hay, said. "She also has an extensive background in career technical education at the community college level."

Effective January 19, Orong replaced CBO Daniel Gilbertson who retired from his CBO position at the end of December after 13 years with the district as a HR Director and then as CBO. Gilbertson will remain with MetroED through June on a part-time basis as the Human Resources Director.

Orong has served in a variety of leadership positions in education including Associate Superintendent of Business & Administrative Services, Director of Fiscal Services, District Assistant Director Business & Fiscal Services and Internal Auditor, and Accounting Supervisor.

Orong earned a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in November 2007 and a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in March 2002. She also earned a certification as a CBO from CSU-Bakersfield in November 2007.

Orong also has a combined total of more than 27 years of experience in business, finance, and teaching at the K-8 and community college level and working in the cable, bank and restaurant industries.

The San Jose resident is looking forward to working at MetroED.

"I am looking forward to working with the dedicated Metropolitan Education District team in providing programs and opportunities designed to assist all students in meeting their individual aspirations and emerging as successful, contributing, responsible members of our workforce and community," Orong said. "This team is making a positive difference every day. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it."
