Press Release
MAEP Graduate Frank Ganz Honored by Outreach and Technical Assistance Network (OTAN)
2009 Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) adult high school diploma graduate, Frank Ganz, has been chosen as an honoree in Outreach and Technical Assistance’s (OTAN) California Adult Education Students Succeed project. His story will be publicized and distributed throughout the state by OTAN.
Ganz is a World War II veteran who graduated from MAEP’s High School diploma program in June 2009 and also received the MAEP lifelong learner award. He had made it his goal to graduate from high school after attending most of his grandchildren’s graduations. The 84-year-old’s graduation was attended by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and covered by the local and national media.
OTAN’s California Adult Education Students Succeed project honors students who have reached their life goals as a result of participating in adult education and are now active in their communities. MAEP will honor Ganz in a special ceremony at an upcoming board meeting. Ganz is the third MAEP graduate to be honored by OTAN since they started the program in 2004.
