Daniel Bobay Appointed to MetroED Governing Board
At its December 14 Governing Board Meeting, Daniel Bobay was appointed by the Milpitas Unified School District Board to serve as a Board Member for the Metropolitan Education District. Bobay's first Governing Board meeting with MetroED will be January 19, 2011.
MetroED consists of two programs—Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) and the Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) and is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that serves six high school districts: Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District, Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, San Jose Unified School District, Milpitas Unified, and the Santa Clara Unified School District. Each JPA district appoints a Governing Board Member to serve as a representative on MetroED's Board for a two year term.
Bobay was elected to the MUSD Governing Board in 2008 and is the MUSD Board Vice-President. Bobay and his wife Janice have four children: two that currently attend school in MUSD, one who graduated from Milpitas High School, and another who is in the Navy and whose ship is currently in the Persian Gulf. During his 13 years in Milpitas, Bobay has been actively involved in many community organizations such as the Kiwanis Clubs, PAL Soccer, the Rainbow Theater, and the Milpitas Food Pantry. He has also served on the Milpitas Unified Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as both a treasurer and president. Bobay was the founding president of the Milpitas Council of PTA's and a past president of the North Valley Council of PTA's.
