Gas Leak on MetroED’s CCOC Campus Has Been Resolved

At approximately 1:15 p.m. today, a construction crew clearing a water line accidently hit a gas line causing a high pressure gas leak near the 700 building on MetroED’s Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) campus located at 760 Hillsdale Ave, San Jose. The entire campus was immediately evacuated to the far south parking lot and 911 was called.

Both the San Jose Police Department and the San Jose Fire Department responded to the incident and coordinated with district personnel to ensure that all students and staff remained safe throughout the entire evacuation. The SJFD determined it was safe for students and staff to return to class at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The gas to the campus was immediately turned off by MetroED’s maintenance department and PG&E is currently working on repairing the gas leak.

Both CCOC and Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) students and MetroED staff were cooperative and orderly throughout the entire event.
