CCOC Gets State of the Art Tire Changing Machine for Brakes & Alignment Class
Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) now has a piece of equipment that is so cutting edge that even many local automotive shops don't have it yet! Imagine a tire changing machine that will pick up a tire off the floor, put it on the machine, and pop off the rim by simply clicking a few switches! The AM26 Artiglio Master by Corghi does just that!
Representatives said that the machine "completely changes the dynamics of how a tire is changed." No more strained muscles from lifting tires all day long! Plus the machine has no metal parts that touch the rim which helps prevents rims from getting scratched or dented. The Corghi machine is normally found at shops that service higher end vehicles because rims on those cars can cost several thousand dollars each.
CCOC purchased the Corghi machine from Italy for $13,000 using proposition 1D funds, far less than the nearly $18,000 list price. "It's the best tire-changer that money can buy," installer Chris Tatro from Pacific Lift & Equipment Company, said. "It's an amazing machine."
CCOC is one of the first education facilities in the area to own and train students on the Corghi, Golden West Marketing manufacturer representative, Bob Vollgraf, said. Students gasped in amazement when the tire popped off the rim during the Corghi demonstration by representatives. They could hardly wait to get a chance to use the tire-changer! Students at CCOC will start training on the Corghi machine the first week of November.
CCOC provides CTE programs for high school juniors and seniors from six high school districts: Campbell Union High School District: East Side Union High School District; Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District; Milpitas Unified School District; San Jose Unified School District; and Santa Clara Unified School District.
