AVAILABLE TO SECOND-YEAR STUDENTS: ADVANCED FILM & VIDEO PRODUCTION

Take your creative passion to the next level by making movies, working on crews, and learning digital  lmmaking. Students learn to write for television and  lm, storyboarding, directing, and sound design engineering. Get hands on traning to produce videos for business and entertainment, from script writing to  nal edit. The class focuses on academic, technical skills, and employability practices. Students will develop personal and professional skills in the classroom that will transfer to the workplace:

• The filmmaking process
• Creative content creation on Apple computers
• Software experience with Google apps and Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects
• Video editing, color correction, and effects
• Studio/field digital audio production
• Digital video camera operation and composition
• Lighting for film and video
• Cinematic storytelling and screenwriting
• Costuming and production set design
• Creative teamwork and 21st-century career-ready skills

About the Instructor

Jonathan Furtado has been working in the film and video industry since his graduation from California State University, Chico in 2003. He has more than 10 years of experience as a director of photography, camera operator, and editor. After moving to Southern California in 2004 he shot numerous films, music videos, and corporate films for a wide variety of corporate and entertainment industry clients all across Southern California. Furtado has extensive experience with a wide variety of cameras and professional production equipment.

Why do you teach Career and Technical Education? 

Filmmaking is equally a technical exercise as it is an art. Teaching CTE fills me with purpose in guiding students in their exploration of an exciting, collaborative and creative field. My years teaching here are always filled with surprises seeing what my students come up with. Teaching them the creative and technical skills in order to succeed in the industry inspires me.
