SOUTH BAY CONSORTIUM FOR ADULT EDUCATION

  • The South Bay Consortium for Adult Education is a collaboration of four colleges and five adult schools in Santa Clara County, California. We are working together to build pathways for adult learners so they can achieve economic self-sufficiency in an area with one of the highest costs of living in the nation. Our consortium is committed to having a positive collective impact on the local workforce, building a just economy and healthy community.

    Community Partners

Connecting public adult education more closely to its communities and their needs was the clear intent of both the AB86 legislation that initiated our planning and the AB104 legislation that funds the implementation. The SBCAE spent considerable effort to research demographics and other data about the regional economy and the needs of the local workforce development system. The effort was deepened by the participation of our community partners, both the organizations listed below and other key community informants. As a result, we believe our plan strongly reflects the values and objectives of those who live in South Bay.

While our Three Year Plan was informed by these community partners, it is critical that we continue to seek their involvement as we set objectives on an annual basis. If you are a community-based organization, or employer, who wants more information about the SBCAE and our work, please contact us through this website.

Through the summer of 2016, the consortium has worked with community partners to develop a framework to work with immigrant students to support their full integration into their communities. This kind of collaboration with community partners is what the State seeks through the new AEBG adult education model, and it is exactly for the SBCAE seeks to improve outcomes for our students.
