Wellness news & updates
 DECEMBER 2, 2020

Hello ,

It's more important than ever to remain focused on self-care and wellness. Wellness encompasses all aspects of emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing.

Making time for self-care is important, including getting enough sleep, taking time to do the things that bring you peace of mind and proper nutrition. It is through these things that you rest and recharge, and this gives you the focus and energy you need to be able to have a fun and enjoyable holiday season!

We look forward to celebrating the season with YOU! Please join us for the Superintendent's Holiday Express Lunch on Friday, December 11 from 11:30 to 12:30 outside the Superintendent's Office. Drive by, say hi, pick up lunch, and see the holiday decorations!

Personal Hygiene Begins and Ends with our Hands

Though we’re taught as youngsters to wash our hands before dinner, it’s important to remember that germs don’t care what time of day it is. Clean hands prevent sickness. So it’s especially important to learn the basics about hand hygiene so that you, too, can become a champion hand washer! Let’s examine some handy (see what we did there?) tips and info in honor of National Handwashing Awareness Week, which takes place each year during the first week of December.

Safety Matters
The safety and well-being of our students and staff has been and remains our top priority at MetroED. Our teachers, administrators, and staff are vigilant about creating a safe and healthy campus environment. We provide extensive training for our personnel, continuously update our safety protocols, conduct rigorous physical inspections of our facilities, and work closely with the other public safety agencies. It’s a role we take very seriously. Please take a moment to read the MetroED Winter 2020 Safety Newsletter and the MetroED Nov. 6, 2020 Safety Committee Meeting Minutes.
School Staff are Encouraged to Test Regularly for COVID

As such, the Department of Managed Health Care has filed an emergency regulation to require health plans to pay for COVID-19 testing for all essential workers, including school staff.

You are encouraged to periodically test for COVID-19, at least twice a month, by your primary care provider.

Should you have any questions contact Lisa Ketchum at COVIDliaison@metroed.net or call 408-723-4245.

Leafy greens including kale, spinach, arugula, and chard are the undeniable superstars of the food world. Low in calories, yet high in fiber, vitamins, and phytonutrients, greens are incredible for your health in more ways than you would even suspect.

Whether in whole food form, smoothies, or organic greens powders, greens have the power to make you look and feel younger, and can even support healthy aging!
