The MetroED Foundation

Our Mission

Since 1993 the MetroED foundation has supported the Metropolitan Education District, known as MetroED, in its mission to prepare students for high wage, high skill occupations in career pathways demanded by the global 21st century economy.

Silicon Valley Career Technical Education and Silicon Valley Adult Education build their students’ technical and soft skills in everything from robotics to healthcare to auto body repair… and a lot more in between. 24 programs in all. MetroED’s SVCTE high school (https://www.metroed.net/about-svcte) and SVAE adult education (https://www.metroed.net/about-svae) are making future employees to drive our economy, our community…and country. They will be up to the challenge of an automated, highly competitive, global economy.

The MetroED Foundation board of directors is committed to growing our abilities and influence in the community to help MetroED meet the challenges facing public education.

Established and ready for business

The MetroED Foundation is a federally registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and registered with the State of California. We’ve earned a Gold Star rating on GuideStar (https://www.guidestar.org/profile/77-0320022) and are listed on the Benevity Causes Portal. We’re proud to announce that we recently became permanent members of the Global Giving worldwide crowdfunding community, which will help us to brand MetroED and our Foundation’s fundraising efforts.

Our Work

Our mission is to support MetroED in important ways like fundraising, PR, brand awareness, community and alumni outreach and much more. To do this important work, we need to grow our Board of Directors. We are currently looking for interested alumni (from San Jose Tech High, Regional Vocational Center, CCOC, SVCTE) and community citizens to serve on our Fund Development, PR/Brand Awareness, and Outreach committees, while serving on the general board.

Why our mission is so important

The following video, produced by the instructor and students in SVCTE’s Animation program, explains the important role MetroED plays in Silicon Valley and why we need your ongoing support. You’ll get why we are so passionate in our support of MetroED.

It’s not always about money

Although financial help is always welcome, to keep our SVCTE and SVAE programs delivering cutting edge curriculum and instruction with the latest classroom equipment and tools, our instructors invite:

  • Advice and guidance from industry professionals on their Employer Advisory Boards.
  • Necessary equipment, tools, materials, and in-kind donations.
  • There are opportunities to mentor students, speak to classes and offer students the internships they need to gain practical, on-the-job experience.

The future is bright for MetroED. The MetroED Foundation looks forward to continuing our support for career and technical education to prepare students for college and careers. Join us. Help us where and when you can.
