COVID-19 Update for May 5, 2020

Happy Day #2 of Teacher/Certificated and Classified Appreciation week! Hope you enjoyed the video yesterday. Today's song of the day was sent in by Krystna Lett:
We have some good news for you! The state is slowly making modifications to allow some activities, and we will do a few of our own modifications at MetroED. We realize the school year will be over very soon.  The number one priority still remains protecting every employee from COVID-19. 
Schools remain essential employees For the modifications we will make below, we will have very strict guidelines that need to be followed without any exceptions. Please do not ask for additional exceptions to what is listed below. Please read all the requirements.
1. If you are 65+ you may not participate, my apologies.
2. Do not participate if you or a family member is sick or has been exposed to COVID-19
3. To participate you will need to have your temperature taken by security upon entering the campus.
4. If you have a fever, you will be sent away.
5. You must bring your own mask, you cannot take your mask off at any time while on campus.
6. Bring gloves or we will provide gloves.
7. We will provide each instructor a container of wipes when you check in.
8. You can only go in your own classroom, no other teacher's classroom is permissible.
9. You cannot go into an administrative office.
10. You can only use the bathroom in your building or bathroom opened by M & O.
11. M & O has to clean every classroom and every bathroom after everyone leaves each day.
12. Maintain Social Distance at all times.
13. The issue with this virus is contamination and it multiplies.
14. There continues to be new cases in Santa Clara each day- 65 on Monday. (that is very high)
  • We are NOT calling or allowing all staff back. 
  • We will be allowing teachers to work in their classrooms alone. (Details available from Alecial)
  • We are calling back M&O staff - per Ricky, and other essential staff members that we need for essential duties and to close down or prepare for the opening of the 20-21 school year. 
  • We recognize the staff needs and some things we can offer, some things we cannot offer.
  • Your supervisor will be in touch via email with details by department or site.
  • There are staff members that will continue to work remotely.
  • Each supervisor will provide their staff with a schedule regarding days/times allowable to be on site.
Other important information.
  • Because we are allowing teachers to work in their classrooms beginning May 6th, we will close campus Friday, May 29, 2020 for summer to be deep cleaned and prepared for Fall. 
  • We will not reopen during the summer.
  • Plan for Distance Learning for the Fall.
  • A Board Policy will be passed that was created by the state on what Distance Learning should look like in schools.
  • We will share the criteria with everyone.
  • We support and recommend Professional Development for all teachers to meet the state expectations for high quality courses.
  • This Free Distance Learning series Professional Development was just released this morning for Adult Education staff.
Finally, on Thursday from 11:00 am -1:00 pm, we will have a table set up in the back of the campus for staff to drive up and pick up their Teacher/Certificated or Classified Appreciation award and lunch. It is a Grab and Go for you. If you missed the video yesterday click here.
