SVCTE Students Set New Records at SkillsUSA Regional Competitions
In a spirited display of talent and determination, the young minds at the Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center have set the bar high. Moments like these remind us of the bright sparks of potential nestled within the heart of Silicon Valley. One hundred and sixty-six SVCTE students from diverse backgrounds and fields participated in the 2024 SkillsUSA Regional Leadership and Skills Competition with one common goal: to showcase their unparalleled skills and drive.
Between January 13 and February 10, SVCTE students threw their hats into the ring, competing in various categories that spanned everything from welding fabrication to digital cinema production. Their hard work and dedication were evident and one for the books. An impressive tally of 62 medals brought home out of 166 participants—31 gold, 17 silver, and 14 bronze–was not just a win but a record-breaking moment. This outstanding achievement marked SVCTE’s highest medal count since 2017. These students have truly earned their spots in the upcoming SkillsUSA State Competition in Ontario, CA, on April 4 to 7, and their success shines as a beacon of excellence and ambition.
Students who competed in the SkillsUSA competition represent a variety of partner school districts, including Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District, Milpitas Unified High School District, San Jose Unified School District, Santa Clara County Office of Education, and Santa Clara Unified School District. This broad participation underscores the inclusive and wide-reaching impact of the program, drawing talent from across the region.
This record-setting performance at the SkillsUSA Regional Competition is a testament to the vibrant spirit of SVCTE's students and the unwavering dedication of its educators. As these young talents progress to the state level, they carry with them the hopes of SVCTE and the pride of an entire community cheering them on.
