Our school year continues to be full of excitement and student achievement at MetroED!
New Student Orientation and Back-to-School Night were a huge success. We have many more fun events planned for this school year, including the Haunted House, Annual Car Show, International Day, and Fashion Show.
We have a wonderful newsletter this month, which includes our appreciation of Cupertino Electric, Inc. for an equipment donation, celebration of James Burnham as the Teacher of the Year, the launch of a new alumni registration portal, and much more!

Congratulations to James Burnham of SVCTE, Metropolitan Education District Teacher of the Year!
The Santa Clara County Office of Education will recognize James at the 50th Annual Teacher Recognition Celebration on October 3, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Campbell Heritage Theater.

On Tuesday, September 24, twenty-nine SVCTE HVAC students took part in a field trip to Therma in San Jose. The students were treated to a tour of the entire facility, including the engineering, estimating, welding, fabricators, and service departments. For over 50 years, Therma has been delivering client-driven mechanical solutions as one of California’s leading commercial HVAC contractors.

On Tuesday, September 17, Kerry Martin , Silicon Valley Adult Education Transition Specialist, took thirty ESL students to the Pearl Avenue Library in San Jose. This was the first trip of its kind. The librarian offered to come to campus or hold online workshops to support ESL students on their journey.

MetroED launched its first GlobalGiving Campaign on Wednesday, September 4 to help students compete at SkillsUSA . Thus far we have generated close to $3,000 towards our goal! Thank you to the generous donors.

SVCTE Fire Science students and teacher, Phil Gonzalez , led the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence in remembrance of September 11, 2001.

Career Pathways Trust Grant Recognition
|
On September 16, the MetroED team received recognition from Alexandra Duran , Dean of Workforce & Economic Development at San Jose Evergreen Community College District, for providing exceptional support, dedication, and expertise over the past four years for the Career Pathways Trust Grant. During this time, 52,424 students were registered in pathway courses and received innovative support services.

The Bay Area Beat recently interviewed Alyssa Lynch, Superintendent of Metropolitan Education District, regarding the history of Silicon Valley CTE Center and Silicon Valley Adult Education.

We teach eligible high school students to succeed in careers and college in a professional, hands-on environment. Students explore and develop technical skills that will lead them to success in higher education or the workplace.
|
|
Our adult education school offers classes for free or at a very low cost. We provide a supportive learning environment that prepares students to achieve their fullest potential by empowering them with skills to succeed in a local and global society.
|
|
|
We have many fun events planned for the year, including the Haunted House, Annual Car Show, Holiday Open House, International Day, and Fashion Show. A few of our upcoming campus events:

Volunteers make a difference in our students’ lives! Volunteer your time to tutor one-on-one with adult students who are completing credits for their high school diploma or learning English. Tutors are needed once or twice a week, morning or evening.
