Greetings!
The 2019-20 school year has been an amazing year for Career Technical Education and Adult Education. As we look forward to celebrating CTE Month in February, CTE programs continue to expand in California and nationwide. Our Adult Education programs also continue to expand with the need for a qualified and skilled California workforce.
Our students continue to shine and do great things, which we have highlighted in this newsletter. Thank you for your ongoing support of CTE and consider sharing this newsletter with your colleagues. More advocates for education equate to a better workforce through college and career pathways!

Mechantronics Student Field-trip to BriteLab

SVCTE Mechatronics Engineering students visited BriteLab , which specializes in full-spectrum (design, engineering, prototyping, and manufacturing) product development solutions for electro-mechanical & optical hardware. Stanford-SVCTE Culinary Arts Internship
|
|
At SVCTE Culinary Arts, students train in our well-equipped kitchen to prepare stocks, cuts of meat, poultry and seafood utilizing a variety of cooking methods. Students also have the opportunity to be a part of paid internships at Stanford University. They gain valuable work experience and build relationships for their next step after high school.

Fashion Trip to California College of the Arts
|
|
Students in the Fashion Design and Textile Art program took a field trip to the California College of the Arts (CCA) campus in Oakland. During the trip, they had a chance to meet school representatives and learn about programs in art, design, architecture, and writing.

Silicon Valley Adult Education Medical Assistant Students
|
|
Students in the Medical Assistant program gain mastery in front and back medical office procedures and take the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Students may begin the program at the start of any module, as space is available. This 760-hour medical assistant course is a one year program, consisting of eight modules and a month of externships.

Saratoga Student in Fashion Design and Textile Art
|
|
Caroline Terry from Saratoga High School in Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District is working towards her annual fashion design project by practicing pattern making and design. Students in this class have the opportunity to put their skills into practice and exhibit their clothing collections to a live audience during SVCTE Fashion Week.

Prospect & Broadway HS Fire Science Students
|
|
Fire Fighters from San Jose Fire Dept. Battalion 13 visited SVCTE to show students the latest tools and techniques used during fire and other emergencies. Students Misaki Koyama (from Prospect High School in Campbell Union High School District) and Refugio Infante Cortez (from Broadway High School in San Jose Unified School District) are testing hydraulic rescue tools used for prying ajar car doors open.

Pioneer High School Animation Student
|
|
In the SVCTE Animation course, students acquire skills in figure drawing, cell animation, and 2D and 3D computer animation. Animation student Emma (from Pioneer HS in San Jose Unified School District) draws on the touch-screen monitor and animates with Adobe Flash, an industry-standard software used for designing vector graphics and animation for television, online video, website application, and video games.

Oak Grove HS Student in Dental Assisting
|
|
Dental Assisting at SVCTE offers preparation and internships for students who aspire to become dental assistants, dental hygienists, and dentists. Dental Assisting student Jennifer Rivera from Oak Grove HS in East Side Union High School District explains to another student the result of a dental X-ray.

Del Mar HS Student in Auto Body Repair
|
|
In SVCTE Auto Body Repair, students learn theory and techniques of welding, metal straightening and panel/body alignment on a variety of auto body industry materials including metal, glass, and plastic. Donavan Kamakani from Del Mar High School in Campbell Union High School District is working on changing the look of this car completely using carbon fiber parts.

We teach eligible high school students to succeed in careers and college in a professional, hands-on environment. Students explore and develop technical skills that will lead them to success in higher education or the workplace.
|
|
|
Our adult education school offers classes for free or at a very low cost. We provide a supportive learning environment that prepares students to achieve their fullest potential by empowering them with skills to succeed in a local and global society.
