Greetings!
As we continue to navigate the shelter-in-place order for the safety and well-being of our students and families, the effort of our teachers and staff to transition to distance learning and to continue offering outstanding learning experiences for our students has been nothing short of remarkable.
We will continue to navigate our way through this pandemic. Our teachers are using Canvas, Google Classroom, live and pre-recorded video, simulations and virtual field-trips to connect with students daily. Students are completing projects, portfolios and certifications. We are proud to share that 307 students will have completed Dual Enrollment courses for college credit, and 27 students completed programs with college articulation.
We acknowledge that distance learning comes with its own set of challenges. Our teachers are committed to providing students with one on one support, online office hours to be sure each student completes their program. On May 22, Silicon Valley CTE will host virtual Student Awards Ceremony. On May 28, Silicon Valley Adult Education will be hosting a virtual Graduation Ceremony for their students.
We are pleased to thank everyone who donated to our Second Harvest Food bank fundraiser which allowed us to provide over 2,000 meals to families.

We have reached our goal of raising $1,000 and being able to provide 2,000 meals for families in need through Second Harvest. The Second Harvest of Silicon Valley provides nutritious food to those in need.

Kevin Tully , a Silicon Valley Career Technical Education graduate, is making face shields using a 3D printer he reprogrammed and donating them to first responders and hospitals in the Bay Area. What a remarkable testament of the valuable hands-on education and training offered to students at SVCTE!

Evergreen Valley HS Student Selected as SkillSUSA Officer
|
|
Congratulations to Derek Thach from Evergreen Valley High School in East Side Union High School District for being selected as the SkillsUSA Officer for the 2020-2021 school year. Derek won gold for Extemporaneous Speaking at the Regional Competition held at SVCTE in January. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together.

Gunderson High School Student Fixes Car Suspension

Eloy Quezada Padilla , a Truck Mechanics student from Gunderson High School in San Jose Unified School District, is doing suspension work on his Nissan with virtual guidance from his teacher. This will improve the steering stability of the vehicle and improve safety on the road.

Stevie Salcido, a student from Westmont High School i n Campbell Union High School District, is learning food prep styles and methods through distance learning. Students in Culinary Arts at SVCTE train to prepare stocks, cuts of meat, poultry and seafood utilizing a variety of cooking methods.

Leigh High School Student Rebuilds Engine

Daniel Morales, a Truck Mechanics student from Leigh High School in Campbell Union High School District, rebuilt the engine for his bronco for the hand-on on part of the class. He communicates daily with his teacher and continues progressing in his learning while social distancing.
