Adult Students

Thank you for your interest in attending Silicon Valley Career Technical Education! We are the largest career-oriented education site in Northern California. We offer hands-on training in dozens of career and college programs. As an adult applying to attend our daytime high school program, please note the following:

  • Enrollment for classes is on a space-available basis
  • Registration must be completed in-person at SVCTE Student Services
  • A registration fee is required upon enrollment

What is Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE)?

We are a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) high school program offering 24 courses (17 of which are UC “a-g” approved) that prepare students for college and future careers.

The program is free for qualified 11th & 12th grade students who are curious about a specific career path. Classes are offered at an off-site campus with high tech classrooms and industry expert teachers. 

When do students attend?

Students who enroll in the program must commit to a 2-hour morning (7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.) or 3-hour afternoon (12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.) session Monday - Friday. The school year begins in August and finishes in June.

Where is SVCTE located?

The campus is centrally located in San Jose near Capitol Expressway and Highway 87. The address is: 760 Hillsdale Ave, San Jose, CA 95136.

Who can attend SVCTE?

11th and 12th grade students from our district partners enroll through their home high school. Adults may enroll for classes on a space-available basis.

Silicon Valley Adult Education

svae-header.pngAs part of the Metropolitan Education District (MetroED), Silicon Valley Adult Education (SVAE) offers adult education classes free of charge or at a low cost to adults 18 years or older. SVAE is a comprehensive adult school offering entry-level and advanced courses in health, technology, and careers in the trades.

We also offer FREE English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation for GED and HiSET tests, and High School Diploma (HSD) subject courses.

SVAE is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Accreditation affirms quality of instruction and assures that coursework taken at this school for credit will be accepted by the other institutions, including colleges and universities.
