We are a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) high school program offering 24 courses (17 of which are UC “a-g” approved) that prepare students for college and future careers.
The program is free for qualified 11th & 12th grade students who are training for a specific career path. Classes are offered at an off-site campus with high tech classrooms and industry expert teachers.
Students who enroll in the program must commit to a 2-hour morning (7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.) or 3-hour afternoon (12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.) session Monday - Friday. The school year begins in August and finishes in June.
These elective classes are held for two or three hours per day, so students earn a total of 20-30 high school credits which are applied to their transcript.
The campus is centrally located in San Jose near Capitol Expressway and Highway 87. The address is: 760 Hillsdale Ave, San Jose, CA 95136.
Free bus transportation is provided from the student’s home high school to SVCTE and back.
11th and 12th grade students from our district partners enroll through their home high school. Adults may enroll for classes on a space-available basis.
Students must meet with their home high school counselor and be approved. Interested students may fill out an online application. Adult enrollment is offered in person. Please call us for details: (408) 723-6400.
Daily students attend both schools and spend half a day at each site. A student takes their core classes at the high school and spends the remainder of their day at SVCTE in their elective class. Together this creates a full day schedule.
