SVCTE Automotive Services Program Receives Clean Fuels Transportation Pilot Project Award

The California Energy Commission and Cerritos Community College representatives presented the Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) Automotive Services program with a Clean Fuels Transportation Pilot Project Award on May 22. 

SVCTE’s Electrical Vehicles/Automotive Services course, which will launch this fall, was selected to receive a $55,000 grant to expand existing course curriculum to include a Switch EV trainer package. 

The California Energy Commission developed a pilot training project to increase career awareness for high school students in the clean fuels transportation field. The Cerritos Community College District was the contractor managing the Clean Fuels Transportation Pilot Career Opportunity Project. 

Larry Rillera from the California Energy Commission and Jannet Malig from the Cerritos Community College District toured the automotive shop followed by a presentation of the plaque to Electrical Vehicles/Automotive Services teacher Tom Nemeth and SVCTE Principal Jeff Arnett.
